Our Story
Stern & Associates provides concept through ribbon-cutting electrical design and construction
management services for retail and commercial industry.
Stern & Associates is a company that is long on experience. John Barrow, the firm’s Managing
Partner, has owned and managed construction and manufacturing companies for thirty years. Lynn
Himmelberger, PE, has been a principal design engineer and project manager on electrical projects for over thirty years. His projects include enclosed malls, lifestyle centers, community shopping centers, tenant spaces, office buildings, and hotel complexes.
Our design professionals include Professional Engineers, Project Managers, and Electrical Designers who have been involved in the commercial construction field for many years. Since our associates tend to stay with the firm for a long time, our experience becomes their experience, and vice versa. Homogenous interaction on every project provides value to our clients.
Stern & Associates was established to provide all phases of electrical engineering and construction
management for commercial projects such as regional and urban shopping malls, lifestyle and
community centers, department stores, big box retail stores, office buildings, and hotels. Stern &
Associates provided the electrical engineering and construction management for “The Mall of
Georgia”, a super regional enclosed shopping mall in suburban Atlanta.
Stern & Associates can be most effective when we join in the initial planning of a project. We can
conduct system studies, create schematic designs and develop preliminary budgets. Once a design is
selected, we will prepare the construction documents. During the installation, we can handle
construction administration.
Our clients range from local developers, architects, engineers and general contractors to nationally
known developers, as well as industrial firms of a local and national scale. A large percentage of our work is for repeat clients, who are happy to provide references.
Our years of designing for the construction industry make us fully capable of providing the expertise and experience that will assure a quality design and cost effective installation completed on time.
